‘The passion between the two guys is intense, and equal, which worked well... This is a book which makes you think as well as sigh, and smile. Thank you Ms. Byrnes.’ ~ Wicked Reads Reviews
Book one in the Marked Men series.
Tattoos don’t define a person’s character, or make him sexy. But, if you ask Sam Madison, they sure don’t hurt.
Dr. Travis Nelson has a passion for ink but keeps his many tattoos covered by long sleeves and trousers. He’s aware that as a pediatrician he’ll be judged not only by the other physicians in his practice, but also by the parents of his young patients.
When Sam Madison takes his young nephew, Levi, to be seen for an ear infection, he’s immediately attracted to Travis and the feeling is mutual. But Sam’s sister Melanie is going through a rough time and caring for Levi, and covering her obligations, keeps Sam occupied. He feels like he’s in no position to start a relationship.
Travis sees things differently, though he’s unable to truly understand the deep bond and connection Sam shares with his twin. As Melanie’s life goes from bad to worse, Sam is forced to make difficult decisions. Is protecting Levi enough of a reason for the two men to stay together, or will fighting for the child ultimately tear them apart?

Alex West is an attorney, gay and has seventy-seven tattoos and counting. None of the tattoos can be seen under the suits he wears into the office and to court each day, but he is addicted.
Kyle Harbor and Lucinda White are partners and owners of Harbor-White Construction. When an injunction halts work, Kyle and Cinda hire Alex to take on their case. Kyle and Alex have an instant attraction. Alex casually tells Cinda and Kyle over dinner that he’s gay and Kyle makes sure that Alex knows he’s straight. He even maintains he’s straight while trying to get Alex to have sex with him in the men’s bathroom.
So Kyle was raised by a homophobic father who beat in him at a young age and being gay is wrong and not what “real men” do. Kyle was married for many years to Kelly and has a daughter Kassi. He’s definitely attracted to Alex, it’s not long before the two are getting hot and heavy between the sheets, but Kyle still swears he’s not gay.
I’ve read a lot of books. Many books that were gay for you, many with a main character still in the closet. I don’t mind the closet stories, but I have to say, Kyle was a real jerk. He was basically a jerk throughout the whole book. I honestly have no idea why Alex would stay with him. I would have dumped him so quickly if he’d treated me the way he treated Alex, but Alex didn’t. Kyle always had an excuse. He’s not gay, he doesn’t know how or want to date, he doesn’t need to be a part of the gay family scene, then he doesn’t know how to tell his daughter and ex-wife. It’s always something. This book really frustrated me. There should only be so many ways a main character can be a complete bastard before he finally gets dumped on his butt like he should be.
Fortunately, the author is much nicer than me and Alex and Kyle get their HEA.

Wow, just wow. It’s no surprise why I like Jenna Byrnes, this book was absolutely amazing. I felt the connection to Sam and Travis immediately and it just kept going from there. This author writing just makes the whole story just flow together. There were definitely some issues with the book and that was to shift of personalities in Travis and Sam. I mean Travis all of a sudden becomes a total prick and Sam becomes wimpy. I was glad that in the end they seem to work out their differences and make a go of it together.
I received a free copy of this book to read for Inked Rainbow Reads in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book; it was a great start to a new series. I will admit at times I wanted to beat the tar out of Sam because of his loyalty to his twin Melanie, I mean I understand the twin bond but she was a hot mess! I did like the fact that Levi wasn’t in every scene in the book, I think there was a good balance between Sam and Travis and then Levi. I love how fierce Travis was about Sam and Levi not going back to the roach infested apartment, which gave an element of realness to me for some reason. There was a little angst and lots of love, just like I like it.

I was given this book for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.
The two main characters, Travis and Sam were great together. I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop and change - especially when it included Levi. Kids are resilient, but there does come a point where their resilience can be tested and I thought that Byrnes did a great job at coming close to that line, but not crossing it.
I really enjoyed the chemistry between Travis and Sam in the beginning. They were honest, loving, steamy together and caring. But, somewhere towards the middle of the story, their relationship began to develop in to one of take, dictate and manipulate. I thought that Byrnes could have created a different feeling in the story and not gone towards these actions.
The sister, Mel, I wanted to throttle. While I can understand the family connection - that desire to try to help those who might need it, Sam became a door mat and I hated that. He was unable to be the brother and instead became the whipping boy (and not the fun kind).
Poor Levi was stuck in the middle of an adult, hot mess and just wanted to be loved and given attention.
So, while I did enjoy this story, it was a kind of train wreck in the middle.

Sam Madison is having a rough life. He moved in with his sister to help care for his nephew, Levi. Melanie isn't what you'd call an involved mother, she is on drugs and depressed over Levi's father going to prison, leaving Sam to do all the work. Sam is just plain tired. He hasn't been in a relationship in awhile but doesn't even have the energy to care. That is until he meets Levi's pediatrician.
Travis Nelson is a pediatrician. When he walks into the room with his next patient, he's instantly interested in Sam, but not knowing the situation, whether Sam's gay or straight, he moves the sexy man to his fantasies. When fate puts the two men together again Travis has to find out one way or another what the situation is. Can Travis give Sam the help he knows he needs? Will Sam admit the sexy doctor is just what he needs in his life?
I fell in love with this story. It was a quick romantic feel good read. At times Travis was a bit overbearing but it was what Sam needed. He needed someone to care for him. The monologue in the court room was perfect and brought me to tears.
Looking forward to reading more in this series.
